Iowa might just have it

Going into Academy Award nominations come Jan. 25 there are a few toss up categories.

I think Best Supporting Actress is a collection of amazing actresses and one of the toughest categories in years.

Right now Jacki Weaver from "Animal Kingdom," Hailee Steinfeld from "True Grit," Helena Bonham Carter from "The King's Speech" and Melissa Leo from "The Fighter" are all beyond deserving.

That fifth slot can go anywhere. Some think Mila Kunis from "Black Swan" might get it. I hope people don't discount Barbara Hershey from "Black Swan."

The Iowa Film Critics released its Best of the Year list and it looks good. Very good.

Best Film
“The Social Network”

Best Director
David Fincher, “The Social Network”

Best Actor
Colin Firth, “The King’s Speech”

Best Actress
Natalie Portman, “Black Swan”

Best Supporting Actor
Christian Bale, “The Fighter”

Best Supporting Actress
Melissa Leo, “The Fighter”

Best Animated Film
“Toy Story 3″

This, to me, looks like the Oscar winners list.

Sure, I want "Inception" to win, but I am a realist to know that it won't.

I would be happy with these acting results though.

Stay tuned for our complete Oscar coverage for more details.
