Henry Cavill is Superman

Over the weekend Zack Snyder announced that British actor Henry Cavill has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman is the latest reboot of the man of steel's story.

Cavill is best known for playing Charles Brandon in Showtime's "The Tudors." It was down to him and Brandon Routh for "Superman Returns" and he also auditioned for Batman for Christopher Nolan.

I think he's a great choice, he's a talented actor who has a sexy, mysterious yet earnest quality that will work well for Superman. It also doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous.

It's no secret that I'm no fan of Snyder, but this casting gives me a tiny bit of hope that he won't completely ruin the franchise.

With that news behind us, it's time to think about Lois Lane. Kate Bosworth was terrible in "Superman Returns" so it's really important that they get it right this time.

Though it might break the comic book time-space continuum, Erica Durance from "Smallville" is a fantastic Lois Lane. I would also suggest Anne Hathaway, but since she's going to be Selina Kyle that leaves her out of the running.

My feeling is that Lois will be a much harder part to cast than Superman.

As for all those people complaining about a British actor playing Superman, get over yourselves. Last I checked Superman was from Krypton, making him an alien from another planet who consistently saves the world, so the U.S. doesn't have exclusive rights to the hero.
