Vampires invade Ballroom 20: "The Vampire Diaires" at Comic Con

We all know that "The Vampire Diaries" panel is the one that I have been waiting for all weekend. Obviously. And seeing as I decided to boycott the Marvel panel in Hall H, vampires took over my world on Saturday. But I had to make sure that I would not miss the first and the last panel for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in Hall H in the morning. Starting the morning off at 4am, and finishing the last three episodes of "LOST" while in line was an adventure in itself.

Although I have never been much of a "Green Lantern" fan, the footage that we got to see was exciting. But it was the extended trailer for "Harry Potter" that set off the fangirl inside that morning. And trust me my friends, that was just the beginning. A friend of mine was already in line for 'The Vampire Diaries" signing that would take place later that day. Considering the amount of people that would be camped out in Ballroom 20 all day for the panel, we decided that the signing would be a better experience than the panel. It was definitely the right choice to make.

And before I get hung up in talking about the cast and crew of "The Vampire Diaries" and "Fringe" I have to give a shout out to the security staff at the Warner Bros. booth, because they were amazing!

Anyway, the first person I got to talk to was Michael Trevino, which I have been waiting for months to tell him we have a mutual friend. I'm sure everyone can imagine how much I was freaking out, but Michael is so laid back and easy going, that it was impossible to be nervous anymore. So thanks, Michael for that. You have no idea how much I appreciate it after standing in front of Ian Somerhalder and Julie Plec. I think it really was a bad idea to put Nina Dobrev in between Paul Wesley and Ian, because I think I just skipped right over her. I might have said hello, but I honestly don't remember. So if by chance that Nina ever reads this, sorry darling. It's the boys' fault.

Then, for me, the ultimate moment of the weekend. I got to talk to Ian, even if it was just for a moment. Unlike most, I have been in love with Ian long before "The Vampire Diaries" and "LOST". I loved him ever since his first series on the CW back when it was still called the WB, "Young Americans". But because the series was not picked up by the studio, it was sadly canceled. But that doesn't stop me from telling him I still loved Hamiliton. When I did tell him this, he gave me his infamous crooked smile and we shared a little knuckle bump! (Hehe, I giggled when we did!) Then he did that little 'eye thing' he does so well and said, "That means we are practically dating each other." I think it's easy to say that the fangirl inside me flipped a million times and I had to cover it was another little giggle when he winked at me. And I just couldn't resist to follow his lead and say, "Exactly," with a little 'eye thing' of my own.

Yeah, he's a flirt, but where I'm coming from there is nothing wrong with that. Sitting next to him was Julie Plec, who is completely the man! I was also very excited about meeting her as well, and once again, completely fangirled when she knew who I was after only hearing my first name, having forgotten momentarily that she watched a music video that I had made for Season 1 of "The Vampire Diaries" and completely loved it.

Then came the panel, which was of course, stealing Julie's word, epic! Not only is this cast hilarious together, but we got a first look at the premiere of Season 2, along with clues into what this sophomore season of the series will be focusing on. What will Tyler's wolf form look like? Just a wolf. Will we get plenty more flashbacks to 1864? Yes. Will they include more Katherine backstory and possibly even some Lockwood vs. Salvatore spats? Yes. Will Katherine play with the brothers by posing as Elena? Yes. A love interest for Tyler? Yes. Will Jeremy wake up as a vampire? Unclear, but according to Julie, he will wake up. Some Katherine vs. Bonnie spats? Yes.

And there was also apparently some kind of inside joke or private party going on at the end of the table with Matt Davis and Steven R McQueen. I'm not sure what had them laughing as hard as they were and I'm not at all should I want to know. (Hehehe!) But seeing as Matt is now following me on Twitter, maybe I should ask him? But I have to be honest and say I'm slightly frightened by what he may tell me...

Honestly, there were too many discussions hilarious and interesting discussions to remember them all, which means it's a good thing I filmed almost the entire panel, and have uploaded it all to YouTube.

"The Big Bang Theory": the funniest panel ever!

I will be the first one to admit, that now I realize what I have been missing the past few years not watching "The Big Bang Theory". If you don't know about the series, it tells the story of a woman who moves in next door to two geeky physicists who dream about Lord of the Rings and live Star Trek, and she shows them what they are missing about life. But after a long haul in Ballroom 20 today, and required to sit through this panel for "Bones" and "The Joss Whedon Experience" afterwards, I have become the show's new biggest fan. I honestly do not think that I have ever laughed so hard at a single panel in my entire convention history!

Forgive me for the obvious pun, but it started with a bang when Will Wheaton, who was moderating the panel, introduced rock band Bare Naked Ladies who led the whole crowd in the full Big Bang Theory theme song. The entire main cast, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, along with the two creators Bull Prady and Chuck Lorre.

It really wouldn't have mattered if the questions that Will Wheaton or the crowd asked, because these actors may be the funniest people ever assembled in one single cast that I have ever seen. I was laughing so hard at times that I couldn't keep the camera straight and kept gasping for air. In fact, I even squeaked a few times. One of the questions that Wheaton asked was what the cast themselves really geeks out for, where Kaley shared several hilarious stories about her new love affair with "Harry Potter" and how she got sorted into Slytherin, of which Wheaton will never let her live down.

However, I do believe some of the funniest moments happened when a little girl came up to the microphone and asked the actors who their favorite other cast member was, and hilarity ensued. The girl was named "Will's evil daughter" by Kaley and Jim followed that up by saying "You're a horrible little girl!" All in good fun of course.

I did video a good portion of the panel and will be uploading this, and all my other videos of panels in the next few days. For some reason, I am having plenty of technical difficulties at this hotel, and I'm not the only one. Actually, I think we are lucky that we can blog at all!

Season Four of "The Big Bang Theory" begins this September, and has moved to Thursday nights at 8pm. Which is bad for me because now it will be competing with "The Vampire Diaries". Yet, after such a great impression that the cast and creators made at this panel, I truly am their new biggest fan.

And anyone else that is as geeky as me, you should start watching it too!

Comic-Con 2010 Day 1 recap

After some technical difficulties, I'm finally able to give a Comic-Con update. It seems like every year the convention gets more crowded. I know we've talked a lot about the show's possible move, but at this point it's just crazy how packed everything is.

The first part of Day one was spent waiting in line for the USA Network panels to start. Tim and I spent about two and a half hours just waiting. However, once we were inside it was worth wait, as Bruce Campbell was his usual show-stealing self.

It was announced during the panel that Campbell would be starring in a "Burn Notice" prequel movie about Sam's last military mission.

Following "Burn Notice" was "White Collar" making its Comic-Con debut. The panel began with a funny video spoofing the convention and the show's stars' past sci-fi roles.

Then it was time for the funniest hour ever, when the "Psych" panel started with Curt Smith from Tears For Fears singing "Shout" with James Roday and Dule Hill. What followed that was a hilarious hour of behind the scenes stories and a preview of upcoming guest stars.

The panel then ended with tap dancer Jason Samuels Smith and Hill conducting a tap battle that was spectacular.

USA Network's slogan is "Characters Welcome," and Thursday they didn't disappoint as they kicked off Ballroom 20 in spectacular fashion.

The Epicness that is Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams

Entertainment Weekly always puts on spectacular panels every year. However, I think with these two legendary storytellers sitting side by side in a room full of Whedonists, Losties, and Trekkies, I think they have finally out did themselves.

EW's Visionaries panel with Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams was extraordinary, and I'm sure, it will be my favorite panel of the weekend, leaps and bounds over the others. There is nothing better in the world than to hear the stories of successes and failures of two amazing filmmakers for a young and future filmmaker like myself. This panel truly was epic, beginning the moment that Joss Whedon officially announced that he will be directing "The Avengers".

Following that epic announcement, the two chatted about Abrams next project "Super 8" and the finale of "LOST". Whedon shared his thoughts on the beginning of internet television and hoping to continue the success of "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog" with a sequel as soon as he is free.

Also, a discussion that I knew would come up, was their thoughts on this "3D fad". Where, from the answers they gave, Joss is totally into it and JJ hasn't been bought into it quite yet. It did surprise me that Joss had plenty of good things to say about 3D, however, he did add a very vital few words to his statement: "...when it's done right..." Which are exactly my thoughts. 3D can be good, when it's done right. I am also happy, and maybe slightly giddy to find that JJ and I also share the same complaint about it as well. When you put on the glasses, it dims the light of the movie and gives it an overall dull tone. I know that it may be a very small complaint and not mean much to most moviegoers, but I like seeing movies as they are meant to be seen. And when 3D glasses ruin that experience, I am disappointed, and apparently, JJ Abrams is as well.

A conversation that I did not expect however was an in-depth discussion of the difference between serial TV series and long arch series, along with the pros and cons of both. In the long run, they did have extremely positive things to say about long arch shows like "LOST", in which, studios are now very reluctant to sign because they tend to believe the audience is not smart enough. However, if an audience can keep up with a series like "LOST", I'm pretty sure they can keep up with anything. Audiences today want to be impressed, not turned into zombies.

Then of course, the whole day was capped off by meeting JJ Abrams at a signing and getting to chat about "LOST" for a few minutes. I'm still giddy about that! If fact, I believe its the only time I ever remember meeting a idol of mine in the film industry and actually hop away because I was so happy! Ha!

Disney 3D Panels, "Tron: Legacy", "Pirates 4" and "Haunted Mansion"

Let me just say, that this is the third time that I have been to a "Tron: Legacy" panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, and they seem to find a way to top themselves every year to get me even more excited about the film.

Not only were we the first to see the premiere of the new trailer, which shows the first footage of a 35 year old Kevin Flynn, but we also had the opportunity to see eight minutes of the film, in 3D. And I once again have to say, that this movie truly will kick ass in IMAX 3D. Unlike many other films, this one was filmed specifically for IMAX 3D, and to be seen in that medium. And it is going to be awesome!

Guests on the panel were stars of the film Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner along with director Joseph Kosinski, producer and original "TRON" creator, Steve Lisberger. Along with additional footage from the film, the crowd was treated to a nice surprise of having a part in the actual film. Well, our voices anyway. During the panel, they recorded us screaming in unison things like "De-rez!" and stomping our feet and the like. It may not be much to every other person in the world, but the inner geek in me was screaming the whole time: "I'm in Tron! I'm in Tron!" .....just like Michael Sheen. (who was fabulously funny for his first experience at Comic Con.)

I'm sure I wasn't the only one surprised that "Tron" didn't end up being the only panel Disney was presenting. We were also treated to a surprise teaser trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", which is due out next summer. However, the one I am truly excited about is the announcement of Disney revamping "Haunted Mansion" directed by Guillermo Del Toro, who walked out on stage to a standing ovation.

Overall, the Disney 3D panels were once again epic and highly out did themselves compared to last year, except with the disappointment of no Brad Pitt appearance at the "Mega Mind" panel.

Candace's Thursday Comic Con schedule

So, went to preview night, and came back to the hotel with with a "Stargate" F-302 replica, a couple signed "Farscape" comics, and Jayne's wristband from "Firefly" from the Quantum Mechanics booth when I was on my way to the IDW booth to get some "Angel" comics. However, when I saw a Stargate mirror in the corner of my eye, you can say I got a little distracted.

Anyway, I'm honestly still trying to plan out my weekend because I'm still not really sure what I am going to do this weekend. However, I do know that it's going to be full of Joss Whedon ALL WEEKEND. Tomorrow night, I am going to a charity screening of "Serenity" that is showing at the theater in the Gaslamp, and apparently, some stars are going to show up. Well, considering the list of "Firefly" stars that are going to be here this weekend including Joss Whedon, Nathan Fillon, Morenna Baccarin, Adam Baldwin and Summer Glau. So, how knows what is going to show up! I'm really excited for this tomorrow night!! You know, if it's just Nathan Fillon, I would be happy. Or Adam, so he can sign my Jayne wristband!

I'm also excited for the J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon panel tomorrow in Hall H. I always enjoy and treasure the opportunity to see two legendary filmmakers discuss the present and future of cinema. I will be filming the entire panel, so if you are interested, the entire thing will be on youtube soon.

Well, that's what I am doing tomorrow. Right now we need to sleep, and I'm going to watch #LOST before I go to sleep.

New episode up... and an editor's note

It has been a hell week of sorts for Inscaped.

And no, not just because the weather out here is crazy hot.

We are in the midst of Comic-Con preparation, which is very time consuming, and getting ready to head out to San Diego.

That also means we've filmed two shows (one while we are away) in two days.

And "Inception" is out this week!

Marvel's big mistake

So, Marvel has decided not to have Edward Norton play Bruce Banner/the Hulk in "The Avengers."

After working so hard to establish a link and a timeline between its "Avengers" films, Marvel has decided to undermine those efforts by recasting a pivotal role.

Both Marvel and Norton's agent have released statements blaming the other side, so we'll probably never know the truth.

What's really upsetting is that fans will now miss out on the chance of seeing Norton, Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson on screen together.

The question now is who will be the new Hulk and will the announcement be made at Marvel's big Comic-con panel.

Full Schedule for Comic Con 2010

So the schedule has been released...but why is no one seeing stars or planning a weekend that shall most definitely be a fairy tale??

How about because the schedule is a complete and utter EPIC FAILURE! This is the first year I am seriously questioning the sanity of whoever schedules this madness. And this is the first year that the entire schedule FAILS completely.

First of all, being Comic Con veterans, all three of us can tell you that the schedules for Thursday and Friday are amazingly light, when it comes to big panels for the big films and television shows. So what do they do?? Pack everything between Hall H and Ballroom 20 on Saturday. And I'm not talking movies and series that have a small exclusive fandom. I'm talking some of the most anticipated panels of the whole weekend.

Oh, and don't even get me started on sticking hugely popular shows like "Warehouse 13" and "Eureka" not only on the same panel in one hour, but in a extremely small room, where these panels usually fill Ballroom to the brim.

Now, I know how Comic Con works. There is always going to be something you miss. For example, I accepted the fact that I may never get to see the Kevin Smith panel, because I miss it every year for one reason or another. No, this isn't one of those times. This year, it's unforgivable.

It has now been left to people like me, that love the television panels and the big movie panels to pick between Hall H or Ballroom 2o all day Saturday. I have to decide between "Captain America" and "Thor," or "The Vampire Diaries," "Bones" and "Fringe." What kind of choice is that?

An impossible one. In fact, I'm not sure I will make up my mind until after the WB panels in Hall H are over. That will be the moment I decide what I am going to see. And I can tell you, I am not looking forward to it. Okay, I have said my piece.

Introducing the Classics Project

For my 200th post I wanted to do something special.

I had almost finished writing a rebuttal to Armond White's "Toy Story 3" review, but Slant beat me to it.

So instead I am pushing up plans for a new project for Inscaped called The Classics Project.

A little background first.

Apparently I went to middle and high schools that either didn't have a lot of money or didn't like books because over the years I realized that there are many books I've never read.

I'm talking like "everyone else in high school" read these books.

In light of that sad, sad realization I am going to right that wrong.

Starting this week I am going to read one classic book at a time and keep going (maybe forever).

I think "Law & Order" will receive some farewell nominations, along with "24" and "Lost." If it were up to me I would nominate most of the cast of "Lost," however, since that won't happen I chose the amazing duo of Ben and Locke. Every scene they were in, captivated and instantly raised the level of the show.

I'm also rooting for "Friday Night Lights" to finally get some recognition for its consistently high quality, but the Emmys don't seem in a rush to offer that acknowledgment. I would also love to see Timothy Olyphant and "Justified" nominated, but it can be hard for new shows to break the Emmy barrier.

Emmy predictions: Comedy

Later this week the Emmy nominations will be announced by Joel McHale and Sofia Vergara. In anticipation of the big event, I've decided to post my Emmy predictions. Keep in mind that these choices reflect who I think will be nominated, not who I want to be nominated.

For the most part I stuck to familiar names. However, new shows like "Glee" and "Modern Family" have enough buzz that I think they'll break through. I should also note that I left off perennial nominee Charlie Sheen, because I think his very publicized personal problems may hurt his chances.

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" aka the Taylor and Jackson Show

I must say, I was a lot more impressed with "Eclipse" than I ever thought I would be. I knew I would come out of this film knowing it would probably be the best of the series simply because this book was structured to be a good film. However, I did not expect to come out singing Taylor Lautner's praises, but I have to. He truly did shine in this movie. But lemme start at the beginning...

I could spend a moment going over the basic plot of "Eclipse", but I'm sure anyone who will care enough about what I think of it, will not already be a fan, but will have read the books. So I will round it all up in one sentence for you: The Cullens and the Wolf Pack must band together to protect Bella from an army of newborn vampires heading to Forks, while battling with a choice: Edward or Jacob? That's the long and the short of it.

Being only a few minutes over 2 hours long, they couldn't take their time getting into the action. They jumped right into the intruder putting Bella in danger, Victoria still hanging around, that the army of newborn vampires threatening to bring the Volturi to Seattle. And of course, the looming love triangle.

Now, just to make myself clear, I couldn't stand Jacob in the books. I hated him in fact, until I read the section of "Breaking Dawn" that is in his point of view. Only then, did I start to feel sympathy towards him. However, there is something about Taylor Lautner as Jacob, that I can't help but love his character...and it's more than just his rock solid abs. Although, those are fantastic too!

Every time there was a scene with Jake, Edward and Bella, I gotta say, there was sparks flying on screen. It really is the first chance we get to see all three of them together, and the chemistry between the three of them was amazing. Especially between Rob and Taylor. Edward and Jacob had so many great lines between each other, that I have to give a huge nod to Melissa Rosenberg and Rob and Taylor for the perfect delivery of so many witty lines that this series really had been lacking in until now.

Other than the outstanding performance of Taylor, who truly does have a big career ahead of him, even after "Twilight" is all over, the performance of Jackson Rathbone as Jasper was the other thing really stuck out for me. First of all, the background story of Jasper is my favorite part in the book, and I was sincerely hoping that they did it correctly in the movie, and honestly, I couldn't be happier with it. Overall, Jasper had a much bigger part in this movie than in the last two, and he had so much more to work with than just a handful of lines. We finally got to see the character of Jasper, instead of just seeing him standing in the background. One of the main things I was really happy about, was the fact they let Jackson keep his real accent for the character. Jackson was raised in Texas, so obviously has a bit of a washed out cowboy accent. Jasper is also from Texas. That is one little thing that irked me about the last two films was Jasper had no accent. As a writer, giving a character an accent gives him more layers. That is what we got from Jackson in this film. Having seen Jackson in many other things, I know he is a great actor, and have been supremely excited to see what he would come up with for this one.

Overall, the acting was better all across the board. I am a firm believer that all it takes to get a great performance out of an actor is the right director. Having seen the results of that for "Eclipse" I have to take my hat off to David Slade.

I was also supremely proud of Kristen Stewart in this film because of only one single scene that she just totally nailed! After Jacob overhears Bella and Edward are engaged, Jacob begins to run off. Bella of course, runs after him, desperate. Now, if there has been one thing I have not liked about Kristen in these films, was that sometimes, she doesn't show enough emotion. But in this scene, she really did shine and showed her magical abilities as an actress.

There are endless things to talk about in this film, so I will stick what I liked the most, and what I hated the most. Let's start with the things that I liked, other than the acting performances I already talked about.

As always, Billy Burke always steals every scene he is in, but I do have to say, the funniest scenes in the series belong to Billy in "Eclipse". A scene I dearly hoped would make it into the film is one of my favorite moments: when Charlie tries to have "the talk" with Bella.

Finally, we get the Jacob and Bella kiss. We all know that Bella is destined to be with Edward, but this scene was done beautifully, and Kristen and Taylor were at their best. This scene almost had me in tears, and that is truly saying something.

The proposal scene. It is one of the highest points of the entire series. Both the actors and the crew had a lot to live up with this scene, and in my opinion, it is one of my favorite scenes of the entire series so far. Rob and Kristen nailed it. Some of the most memorable visuals that I loved in the book, are in this scene, including the infamous leg hitch!! When I saw that, I about jumped from my chair in pure excitement. A twitter friend of my said it best. "That is the hottest and sexiest non-sex scene I have ever seen." And I have to agree with her. It is all topped off by the absolutely gorgeous song that is being played during this scene, "My Love" by Sia.

My absolute favorite scene in the entire series so far, the even more infamous Tent Scene!! First of all, two of the best lines of the movies are given to Jacob in this scene. To Edward: "You know I'm hotter than you." Then after Jacob slips into the sleeping bag with a freezing Bella: "You know it would be better if you took your clothes off. Survival 101." I have to say, I was rolling in laughter at these two lines of dialogue in perfect succession. Fabulous witty humor. But beyond the humor, is why this scene is my favorite. Edward and Jacob have their first real conversation, and it is magic, thanks to the chemistry, the writing and the acting. Extra kudos to David Slade, Melissa Rosenberg, Rob Pattinson and Taylor Launter for this scene.

The last thing that truly captured my attention, but is no real surprise, is the soundtrack and the score. I have said this since "Twilight" was released: these films have some of the best soundtracks and scores that I have ever listened to. The score "Eclipse" in particular is composed by Howard Shore, the Academy Award winner for his work in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The music in this series truly is flawless.

Now onto the things that I didn't like, which is really only one thing that actually surprised me. I didn't like Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria. I know there was a change in actress from the previous two films, but I honestly thought that I would like Bryce better, being a more talented actress. However, I was extremely disappointed. The character of Victoria is supposed to be sassy and antagonizing, and Bryce missed all the marks. I felt as if she tried to make people feel sympathize towards her, and that is not the purpose of Victoria.

Overall, the movie was fabulous, and I'm sure I'm going to see it at least as many times as I saw "New Moon", which I really do not want to admit how many times I saw it. I also don't want to admit that I have fallen to pure TwiHard crazy in the last few days. After getting into a car accident on Sunset Blvd on my way to Century City AMC to see Rob and Kristen after a showing of "Eclipse", I was only extremely angry because I missed them, and not because of my car. As a friend of my put it: an ultimate TwiHard reaction. I have also finally dropped to a whole new low of purchasing "Twilight" bedding. I will now be going to be with Jacob Black every night.

What can I say? I'm crazy, I know. Deal with it.

Summer television: 'Rookie Blue' and 'Louie'

When we noticed that ABC had three new dramas starting in the summer, we decided to split them up between us here at Inscaped.

I was worried that I would get "The Gates."

Luckily, I thought, I got "Rookie Blue."

The general consensus of "The Gates" and "Scoundrels" was a big "nothing special."

And "Rookie Blue" now joins that prestigious club.

The show follows five rookie police officers on their first day on the job in what appears to be a city back East (in reality it's filmed in Toronto).

Of course all of them are fresh faced and good looking. Did you know that ugly people can't graduate from police academy?

The biggest star name of the show is Missy Peregrym who some might remember from "Heroes." She was the girl who could create illusions, then got killed by Sylar.

And of course, Peregrym's character is the star of the show... at least the first episode.

Some of the rookies are paired with veterans, who all are snotty and indifferent to the rookies. One gets a desk job and complains while the last one gets a desk job and seems somewhat content with it.

Of course, as if by magic a few of the rookies seem to earn the respect of their veterans and others by the end of the episode.

It's like an episode of "Webster" when Emmanuel Lewis does something bad, but then learns his lesson at the end and everyone goes "Awwwwww."

I am sure everyone is going to compare this to "Grey's Anatomy" and maybe rightfully so.

Or as I like to call it "pretty people with problems."

Sci-fi fans might be on the lookout for Eric Johnson who plays a homicide detective. Nerds might remember him from "Smallville" and the "Flash Gordon" series.

Another new series premiered this week, on FX.

Now FX has a long tradition of airing great shows like "Justified," "Damages" and "The Shield."

"Louie" might not be ready to join that club... yet.

It stars comedian Louie C.K. as himself, or at least an exaggerated version of himself.

Think of it like "Seinfeld." Jerry played himself, kind of.

And the "Seinfeld" comparisons don't stop there.

Each episode has C.K. doing stand up comedy talking about something that relates in a way to what the episode is about.

I caught the second of two new episodes last night which started as a round table poker game discussion on homosexual sex and how the straight guys in the room were a little too interested about it.

It went on a little too long and wasn't that funny.

That sentence can also describe the whole half hour.

I will say that C.K. does a great job in the acting department. He's great at playing the lovable loser (maybe it's not acting?).

Since it's on at 11 p.m. it can be a little more crass than usual and even show a little nudity (though it was C.K.'s backside last night).

That can push the envelope a little and maybe make for a bit more edgy comedy.

I'll give it another shot because I thought that "Community" was not that funny based on just the first three episodes, but got better later on.

"Rookie Blue" on the other hand, sorry "Burn Notice" is on at the same time.

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse': will vampires and werewolves defeat Batman and Joker?

I'm pretty sure we all know that "Eclipse" will be No. 1 in the weekend box office, and will put up some huge numbers. But will it put up bigger numbers than "New Moon?"

No one was expecting "New Moon" to give "The Dark Knight" and "Spiderman 3" a run for their money as the biggest opening weekend of all time, which "The Dark Knight" still holds at $158.4 million. However, it did shatter the midnight showing and opening day box office records held by "The Dark Knight" and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince."

I don't think it's ridiculous to think that "Eclipse" will shatter the records held by its predecessor. But will it touch, or even break the seemingly untouchable number put up by "The Dark Knight" and break the weekend box office record?

I think the numbers will be closer than people think. The promotion for "Eclipse" has been huge, and it is getting more great reviews from top rated critics than bad ones. This franchise gets bigger every year, and I think it may just do the impossible. These are my predictions:

Midnight Showing sales:

"New Moon": $26.3 million
"Harry Potter 6": $22.2 million
"The Dark Knight": $18.4 million
"Eclipse" prediction: $30 million (yup, I said it. $30 mil.)

Opening Day sales:

"New Moon": $72.7 million
"The Dark Knight": $67.2 million
"Eclipse" prediction: $78 million (however, I really want to say $80 mil)

Opening Weekend sales:

"New Moon": $142.8 million
"The Dark Knigh"t: $158.4 million
"Spiderman 3": $151.4 million
"Eclipse" prediction: $155 million

Now, I would really like to say "Eclipse" will break the opening weekend box office record, but the numbers put up by "The Dark Knight" seem just a little too out of reach. However, I have no problem thinking it will pass "Spiderman 3." The reason I think it will however, give "The Dark Knight" a run for its money is because the only other movie opening this weekend is "The Last Airbender," which isn't nearly as anticipated as "Eclipse," and isn't opening until Thursday. Plus, "Toy Story 3" is still making a good portion of money.

Here's the way I see it. Obviously there are people out there not interested in "Eclipse." But there is nothing else that opens this weekend for an audience that is not interested in fantasy. So people will either be seeing "Eclipse," "The Last Airbender" or "Toy Story 3." The female audience, will be seeing "Eclipse," which leaves the males to see the other two.

However, with the amount of fangirl power that Twi-hards have, you can expect the female audience to go back and see "Eclipse" at least 3 times in the first couple days. I saw "New Moon" twice in the first 24 hours of its release, and that doesn't even come close to true fangirl power.

Anyway, I was just wondering about it today, and figured I would write up a blog of my thoughts. So there it is. One thing we do know for sure, "Eclipse" will have a huge opening, that we can count on.

First trailer for 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'

I know I am not the only person completely ecstatic today because the very first trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" premiered online today, and will premiere in theaters with "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" this week.

I personally cannot wait to see this trailer on the big screen. Knowing the books very, very well, I can already tell you they have done a fantastic job with these last two films of the series because every single shot in the trailers is in the books. Splitting the last book up into two films just may be the best decision they have ever made.

So without further adieu, ladies and gentleman, the first trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Depending on what exactly the release date for part two is, this may be the last summer there is for "Harry Potter" to be big at Comic Con. So do not be surprised if Warner Bros. does something huge for it this year! I personally hope they do. I would like to say goodbye to "Harry Potter" in a very big way. The trailer is certainly right about one thing, that these movies have defined not only an entire generation of audience viewers, but an entire generation of filmmakers as well.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but with the end of Harry Potter finally in sight, I will not be a very happy person when the films are finally done. I had a hard enough time after the final book came out. I can't imagine what kind of a wreck I will be when the last movie releases.

Five songs that MUST be in 'Rock Band 3'

By now everyone has heard, read or saw how awesome "Rock Band 3" is going to be.

I personally got a first hand taste of awesomeness.

Just playing a few songs and falling in love with the keyboard got me thinking about what other songs should be included.

Harmonix announced 83 songs in the setlist and only released 22 so far, which leaves more than 60 to be debated and wished for.

And before anyone says anything Europe's "The Final Countdown" is on "Lego Rock Band."

One song I would just LOVE to see is Guns N' Roses "November Rain," but with all the drama I could see it not being included.

OK, so here are my top five picks in no paticular order:

What other songs should be included?

For the love of God DC, make a 'Wonder Woman' movie already

Since the first Superman movie was released in 1951, DC has made a lot of live action superhero films. Some of them have been stellar like "The Dark Knight" and some of them have been ridiculous like "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace."

Big time characters like Superman and Batman have had entire franchises, while lesser known characters such as Steel and Jonah Hex have even gotten movies.

And yet, still no Wonder Woman. Seriously, DC what's the holdup. What's stopping DC from getting this movie made?

Let's see, could it be that Wonder Woman isn't well known? No, she's one of the most famous fictional characters on the planet. Are superhero movies unsuccessful at the box office? No, just look at the receipts for the "Iron Man" movies. It can't be casting because there are quite a few actresses who could play this part.

Hmm, maybe it's her story. No, because Diana Prince is an Amazon Princess who becomes one of Earth's greatest protectors.

So again, I ask DC, what's the holdup.

Earlier this week at the Saturn Awards mega producer Lauren Shuler-Donner said that she is campaigning DC to let her produce a Wonder Woman movie.

In an interview with scifiwire.com, Shuler-Donner discussed her plans.

"I'm campaigning to produce Wonder Woman for DC and Warners," she said. "They don't want it but I just think she's the greatest character...I want to produce Wonder Woman."

This is the best idea I've heard since Joss Whedon was involved with this project.

Shuler-Donner obviously knows her stuff, with the "X-Men" movies among the 37 films on her resume. She is also working on the upcoming "Deadpool," "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men Origins: Magneto."

She knows the business, so who better to make this movie happen than a powerful woman who successfully navigates a male dominated field.

If DC is smart, they'll get her onboard as soon as possible and then sign up Kathryn Bigelow to direct, because clearly some women are going to have to take charge to make a Wonder Woman movie a reality.

ABC summer series'

Generally summer is a time for TV fans to catch up on what they missed during the regular season and watch the few cable and reality shows that air in the summer.

ABC has decided to capitalize on the lack of competition by premiering three new series. On June 20, the network aired the first episodes of "Scoundrels" and "The Gates." Today I'll be reviewing the premiere episodes and looking ahead to the future of both shows.

"Scoundrels"

This is a show about a family of criminals, who go straight after the father is sent to jail. The first episode was strictly for set up purposes. Ideally a great first episode sets up the story and draws the audience in.

"Scoundrels" was a pretty mediocre show with familiar characters and plotlines. The only saving grace came from the talent of the cast, who did their best to hide the material. Matriarch Cheryl West is played by Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen. She does most of the heavy lifting in the first episode as she chases her kids around town, trying to keep them out of trouble.

The accomplished cast also includes David James Elliott ("Jag"), Levin Rambin ("All My Children") and Patrick Flueger ("The 4400").

The problem with this show is that it's so predictable, there's no enjoyment left for the audience. Sundays at 9 p.m offers much better choices, among them "Leverage," which does a better job of portraying a fun group of criminals.

"The Gates"

This is ABC's attempt at a supernatural mystery. "The Gates" is about a private community whose citizens all have secret supernatural backgrounds. There are vampires, werewolves and witches so far. Of course more beings could show up if the show progresses.

The first episode follows the new police chief as he and his family move to The Gates. Apparently, killing using one's powers is not allowed inside the community, so when a vampire breaks the rules, the cover-up peaks the chief's interest.

While less predictable than "Scoundrels," "The Gates" suffers from the common problem of too much story. With all the special characters to keep track of, the show fells like it's trying too hard.

The episode did feature one nice twist at the end, but I'm not sure it's enough to keep viewers interested. There is also the idea that with "True Blood" on at 9 p.m. on Sundays, "The Gates" won't be able to compete for the same audience.

The first trailer for "The Green Hornet"

The first trailer for yet another comic book character comes alive, starring Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz. I remember seeing the car at Comic Con last year, but it definitely didn't look this cool! I'm pretty sure we are in store for plenty more "Hornet" coolness this summer at Comic Con 2010!!

Larry King hosts telethon for Gulf Aid

Hollywood finally came together on the set of Larry King Live this evening to host "Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help" Celebrities like Edward James Olmos, Kathy Griffith, Gavin Rossdale, Ryan Seacrest, and Alyssa Milano. Including Ian Somerhalder who has been spending every moment in between promotion for Season 2 of "The Vampire Diaries" filming PSA's, doing interviews and tweeting up a storm to spread awareness and help the families and wildlife being affected by this disaster.

In only two hours, America raised more than $1.3 million dollars and counting. I don't know about you, but that sure does make me feel proud to be a member of this country. Americans have always had a great capacity to unite when disaster strikes, and this is no exception. Money is being donated to three different foundations: United Way, The Nature Conservatory and National Wildlife Fund.

With hurricane season just around the corner, I can't even imagine the further damage that this oil can cause when it is carried on land, after already affecting fisherman, the seafood industry and the local wildlife. With BP and the government lacking in giving the aide that is needed, it us being left up to the rest of us to clean up this mess.

'True Blood' shows real southern hospitality

In all the E3 excitement I wasn't able to cover the premiere of "True Blood" season 3. The show picked up with Bill being kidnapped and Sookie running around looking for him.

In what was the best entrance by a character ever, Eric took a break from his "orientation" of his newest dancer to flirt with Sookie and inform her that he didn't have anything to do with Bill's disappearance.

Meanwhile, Bill escaped his kidnappers only to end up once again surrounded by them, as they turned out to be werewolves.

This week's show began immediately from that point with Bill viciously fighting off his attackers, before their boss the Vampire King of Mississippi showed up and ever so politely escorted him to his home. You've got to love southern hospitality.

In what was again the best scene of the show, Eric was at Sookie's house to protect her from the very same wolves. Sookie, mind-bottlingly, took forever to invite him in. I personally would invite Alexander Skarsgaard in at the drop of a dime.

In its first two episodes the show has hit the ground running with several plots being thrown at the audience. While this makes for great entertainment, it is a little hard to follow some of the less interesting stories like Sam's crazy shape-shifting family and Tara's never ending drama.

Honestly, if her suicide attempt had been successful would anyone have missed her? Of course not. This would also free up Lafayette for some more interesting story.

Last night's episode concluded with Eric, fangs bared, ready to protect Sookie from an oncoming werewolf. I'm still trying to figure out why Sookie stays with the boring Bill when she could be with fantastically Viking Eric.

This season is set to focus on vampire politics and ancient grudges. So far, it's kept fans on their toes, but a few less stories to follow would be appreciated.

'The Vampire Diaries' panel at Comic-Con

"The Vampire Diaries" panel has been scheduled for Saturday, July 24 and will be moderated by producer and director Marcos Siega. He has announced on his Twitter account that he wants us (the fans!) to tell him what they should talk about.

My Twitter pal Ruthie wants us to post our questions and topics of discussion on her website as a comment to the news article so she can pass them on to Marcos.

From experience, I know that Marcos is a very cool guy, and when he wants us to give him questions and comments, he will definitely look at them.

I was already looking forward to this panel....now I can't wait!

Armond White does it again

"Toy Story 3" opens this weekend and until this afternoon had a 100 percent rating on RottenTomatoes.com.

Everyone in the world knew it was coming.

Armond White was going to post a negative review.

Even Roger Ebert knew it.

I'm not going to even bother posting his review, but I will say he said "Small Soldiers" was better.

E3: Day 2-The Kinect isn't for clumsy people

One of the big stories from this year's E3 is Microsoft's new Kinect for the XBOX. After a demo at the Microsoft press conference, I wasn't impressed. Well today I got to play it myself and guess what, I'm still not impressed.

I played a dance game that made me feel woefully uncoordinated and a downhill racing game that defied the laws of gravity.

One of the main problems I found is that if you're a little clumsy or balanced challenged like me, then the Kinect will be extremely difficult to master.

During the dance game I transformed from someone who loves dancing and does it all the time into my mother who has two left feet and no semblance of rhythm.

I also tried out "Dance Central" on the Kinect, with the same results. I know what you're thinking. I'm clearly the problem, not the system. However, I'm awesome at "Dance Dance Revolution," so it's obviously not me.

Anyway, back to the Kinect. Next I tried out a racing game that required a lot of leaning and jumping. And I mean a lot of leaning. The system did not measure small movements, so I had to really lean into the game to register a change.

While I did feel like I'd had a good workout, the experience wasn't fun and isn't that supposed to be the whole point of video games.

So, while it may be the future of gaming, the Kinect is not for the uncoordinated or clumsy.

E3: Day 2-I'm a rock star

As a really bad gamer, the only games I have any ability at are music games like "Rock Band." Harmonix and MTV Games have come to my rescue with "Rock Band 3," the latest in its blockbuster franchise.

The big news for this new edition is that it features keyboards, which is something that no music game has tackled yet. They have also updated it to include a pro element, so that all the time spent playing "Rock Band" can result in learning a musical instrument.

Other new elements include, individual players being able to drop out or join in, three part harmony and the ability to make a setlist on your computer and send it to your game console.

Players also have the ability to play bass on the keyboard or vice versa.

Playing the actual game didn't feel much different than it did before, but the song choices were broader with the added keyboards. "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen has been a popular choice. Other songs include, "Break on Through to the Other Side" by The Doors and "Just Like Heaven" by The Cure.

There was also a demo of "Green Day: Rock Band," which features a lot of their newer songs, and while fun, wasn't different from playing a regular "Rock Band" game.

MTV Games also introduced its new dance game, "Dance Central" for the Kinect. In this game the player mimics the dance moves on the screen, which are set to popular hits like "Poker Face" and "Funkytown."

Of all the dancing games previewed this week, "Dance Central" was definitely the most fun. However, using the Kinect will require a little practice and a certain amount of coordination.

The MTV games booth has so far provided the most fun and featured games that I would actually want to play at home.

E3: Day 1 Photos

E3: Day 1 in the South Hall

Since Tim is a far more proficient gamer than myself, I can't really demo difficult games like "Assassin's Creed" or "Metal Gear Solid." However, what I will do is preview games that are family-oriented and easy to pick up.

Walking into the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center was like walking into a 12 year old boy's dream. Everywhere you turn there are all manner of games to play.

You may recall that I wasn't impressed with the demo from yesterday's press conference. Upon watching people experience it live, my opinion hasn't changed. The sports game featured someone bowling and if I hadn't known better I would assume they were playing a Wii.

"Dance Central," from the makers of "Rock Band," could be fun but you really have to have a little rhythm to start with. Those with two left feet will find this game challenging at any level.

Finding the Kinect area too crowded I headed over to "Def Jam Rapstar" which had me showing off my mad rhymin' skills as I posted a very good score on Snoop and Dre's classic "Nothin' but a G Thang."

This game is scheduled for release on Oct. 5 on all platforms and will be $69 for XBOX and Playstation and $59 for Wii. While it has all the usual elements you would expect from a karaoke style game, "Rapstar" does offer a few differences.

For example, players can rap as a duet, in battle mode or for the really adventurous they can try freestyle mode, where players use their own lyrics over instrumental versions of the playlist.

This game is made for a party, it provides all the fun of "Rock Band," but with a hip-hop appeal. There is also the added element that players can make a video of themselves and upload it to the Def Jam site. "Rapstar" was a lot of fun and I definitely need to go back and rock some Notorious B.I.G.

Next door to "Rapstar" was "Karaoke Revolution: Glee" for the Wii. It is basically a karaoke game that uses the best numbers from season one of the hit FOX show. While fun for fans of the show, if you're not familiar with the show's arrangement of a song it can be difficult to follow along, as the "Glee" cheerleader singing with me found out.

Finally, I hit up the Disney booth and played a racing game based on the "Cars" shorts featuring Mater. It took me a minute to get the hang of playing on a Wii, but once I did I could see how kids would really love racing along as their favorite "Cars" character or creating their own.

So Day 1 is almost over for me, I'm exhausted and haven't even hit up the West Hall yet. Who knew video games were so grueling?

Tomorrow "Rock Band 3."

First Teaser for HBO's "A Game of Thrones"

Winter Is Coming

As a fan of George R.R. Martin's series for a while now, I'm sure I wasn't the only one excited to finally see the very first teaser trailer for the series that will premiere on HBO next spring. Unveiled moments before the season premiere of "True Blood", being someone who is not lucky enough to have HBO at the moment, I was waiting very impatiently until the video was loaded unto the internet.

As seen above, the second promotional picture was also released. It is our first taste of Winterfell, with the Lord of Winterfell Ned Stark, played by Sean Bean, holding his sword, Ice.

The trailer is honestly not much, just a bunch of flashes, one line of dialogue and a logo. I have been waiting so long for something, that I would have been happy with just a logo. However with this little taste, I am convinced that HBO is definitely the right studio to bring this story to life. The only shot I can really make out is Ned mounted on his horse, unsheathing Ice beside what looks to be either Bran, Theon or John. He looks older, so I would guess probably John. Then Sean Bean's line of dialogue as Ned, "Winter is coming..." and a laugh. Then a girl's scream, a quick shot of a girl, then the "A Game of Thrones" logo.

I don't know about any other fans of this series, but just that one line of dialogue gave me chills of excitement. For those that don't know, "Winter is coming..." is the Stark family motto, and pretty much the tagline for the series.

If the trailer speaks for anything it's showing the mood for this story, which is dark, dreary, pessimistic at best. I'm not sure about anyone else, but this trailer makes me ecstatic.

There is other news however that is not so exciting. There is chance that HBO in fact will not have a panel for "A Game of Thrones" at Comic Con as originally planned. It has not been confirmed quite yet, but the closer we get to the end of the July, the sooner it will be officially announced. However, HBO did say whether or not there is a panel, there will be merchandise to sell.

New episode up...

E3: Microsoft

Earlier this morning, Microsoft held its E3 press conference. The studio responsible for the XBOX previewed several new games including, "Halo: Reach," "Gears of War 3" and "Metal Gear Solid: Rising."

However, a majority of the event focused on the new Kinect, which was formerly known as Project Natal. Kinect is a system that enables players to let go of the controller and use their entire bodies during gameplay. Demos featured track and field on a sports game, a racing game and a animal game where a little girl played with a tiger, like it was her pet.

Unfortunately, once you get past the bells and whistles, nothing about Kinect seemed especially impressive. Of course, watching a demo and playing are completely different experiences, so once there is a playable demo, I may feel differently.

However, right now, I'm unimpressed with Kinect and its games. It just looked like a Wii, but not quite as fun. Kinect is set to be released on Nov. 4.

Probably, the biggest announcement came when the new XBOX was unveiled. The new version will have a 250GB hard drive, be Wi-fi ready and is slimmer than previous consoles. The new XBOX ships today and will be available later this week for the same price of $299.

This week on Inscaped

With the Electronics Entertainment Expo taking over the week, we won't have time to shoot a new show. However, we will still give our unique take on all the latest entertainment news.

A few of the stories we're working on this week include: a box office recap, because I couldn't have been more wrong, the season three premiere of 'True Blood" and a preview of the series finale of "The Tudors."

Plus, "Wanna See It" and full E3 coverage.

"Pretty Little Liars" premieres on ABC Family

Yet another popular teen book series comes to life on the silver screen. "Pretty Little Liars" premiered on ABC Family this week with almost 2.5 million viewers. Based on a novel series written by Sara Shepard, the producers of "The Vampire Diaries" brings the series to screen with a strong opening.

It follows the lives of four girls, Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily, one year after the queen of their group, Alison, goes missing. Swearing that they would never tell what really happened that night, the four girls drifted apart with too many secrets and grudges between them. On the anniversary of Alison disappearance, they each begin receiving messages from someone who calls themselves "A", threatening to reveal secrets that they though only Alison knew. Thinking that Alison has returned, they were even more shocked when her body is finally found, and they continue to receive the messages after the funeral.

I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed the episode. I was not planning at all to watch it, but paying attention to what my friends on Twitter were saying about it, and the fact that it is created by the same studio as "The Vampire Diaries", I decided to give it a shot.

After the first commerical break you know this small town of Rosewood has some problems, and it's not just these four friends who have drifted apart that have secrets. Aria finds herself tangled into a relationship with who she finds out is her new English teacher. Hanna gets arrested for shoplifting and the tension between her and her mother grows to serious proportions. Spencer tends to have a thing for her older sister's boyfriends. Emily seems to be curious about her sexuality, intent on exploring it with her new neighbor whose family has moved into Alison's family previous home. There seems to be a huge wall between Aria and her father, which we find out later is because she caught him having an affair with what looked like Alison or Hanna, however, I could be wrong. And, what actually drove me insane there is apparently a huge secret the four girls are keeping between themselves that they call "the Jenna thing". Considering that is the name of next week's episode, I'm guessing we will get a little more background on the incident.

What I really liked about this show other than the nice twists and turns going on throughout the social aspects of the town, we not only hear the stories of Alison, but we get to see plenty of flashbacks of when Alison is still in her "queen bee" role. Honestly, I'm not sure how any of these girls were friends with her. She was sly, cunning, and deceitful, which I hope, will make for an interesting Season 1.

Although it has a fairly formulaic structure that leans towards the typical teen drama that may be no different than "One Tree Hill", it does has an interesting twist. The fact that we assume Alison died with all their deepest and darkest secrets, how does this "A" claim to know them? And what exactly did these girls get themselves into? The writing is quality enough, and intriguing enough that I will definitely be watching this series throughout the summer. After all, I need something to get me through this painful "Vampire Diaries" hiatus.

Oh, and it is nice to see the familiar face of Holly Marie Combs playing Aria's mother. I always loved her on "Charmed".

What these announcements really do is get us all excited and comic-con crazy a good two months early. But we can't help, we're nerds and comic-con is our mecca.

'Captain America' casting news

The weekend Marvel Studios announced two more roles have been cast for "Captain America: The First Avenger".

First, Oscar nominated actor Stanley Tucci has been cast as Dr. Abraham Erskine who is the German scientist that created Project Rebirth, the experiment that Steve Rogers volunteers for and in turn, becomes Captain America.

Neal McDonough, starring in the new ABC series "Scoundrels", has been confirmed for the role of Dum Dum Dugan, who in the comics, is a member of the Howling Commandos. In the early announcements for "Captain America", Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, mistakenly called the Howling Commandos the Invaders, and said they would be fighting alongside Captain America early in the story. He was later corrected, but there is a possibility, reasons unknown at this time, that the name of the team will be changed in the film.

My question is why doesn't the head of Marvel Studios get in front of cameras and reporters without having the correct information? You would think the head of the studio would at least know a little about the stories he is bringing to the screen.

Anyway, I am very excited to see these two actors part of the project.

My thoughts on LOST so far...

Now, I always said when LOST is over, I would sit down and watch it all together so I wouldn't have to deal with the hiatuses, writer's strikes or anything else. So, the time has come. The day after the series finale, I began with the Pilot and only moments ago, I finished Through the Looking Glass Part 2, which is of course the Season 3 finale. I can go on to say how brilliant this show is, but I would be wasting my breath because everyone already knows that. However, I will say this. The reason this show is brilliant a million times over, is because it not about the story, but how the story is told.

So instead of reviewing the first three seasons, I'm just going to give you a list of my favorite moments so far, and leave my review until after I finish the whole series.

Season 1

1. Boone's death. "Do No Harm" is my favorite episode so far, and it's not just because Ian Somerhalder plays Boone, well, it is if you consider how great of an actor he is. I was crying almost the entire episode, but not just for Boone, for Jack as well. Jack is so desperate to save him, the moment Boone says to let him go, I was hopelessly breaking down. Really. A moment of fantastic acting, writing and directing all at the same time. One of my favorite moments period.

2. Sawyer tells Jack about meeting his father in "Exodus Part 1". Tim warned me about this moment, and he was right. One of the best moments of the series so far. I was so proud of Sawyer for telling the honest truth, and my heart was breaking for Jack all at the same time. LOST acting at its best.

3. "If we don't live together, we're gonna die alone." Will always be classic.

Season 2

1. Jack and Desmond flashback. It doesn't seem like much, but I love this scene when we meet Desmond for the first time, unaware that he would become so important. And we hear one of the most famous LOST lines for the first time. "See ya in another life, Brother."

2. Hurley talks to dead Libby. Hurley has always been used as the comic relief, but this was fabulous. Until this moment, I wasn't sure they were ever going to give another layer to Hurley, but I was so glad they did.

3. I forget which episode it's in, but when awesome Mr. Eko gives Locke the cut section of the orientation film and we hear another famous LOST line. "Do not mistake coincidence for fate."

4. Sawyer calls Jack a friend. It was a very small moment, but did bounds for their relationship with all that would happen in Season 3. Preparing to track Ben down after Michael helped him escape, Sawyer confesses to Jack about sleeping with Ana Lucia. "You're the closest thing I have to a friend."

Season 3 ( I call it the WTF season)

1. Locke's vision of Boone in "Further Instruction". First I have to say bravo to Locke for having the creepiest dreams and visions that always seem to be about Boone. I think Ian Somerhalder accomplished a new level of creepy in this episode.

2. Sawyer and Kate. Now, I do not like these two together, but, what leads up to the love scene in the cage was a great piece of writing and acting. They may not belong together, and even way back when I think they knew it, but this is still an important moment for their relationship.

3. Danny has Sawyer on his knees, and Jack threatens Ben's life in the middle of surgery. This episode is one of the most intense 43 minutes of television I think I have ever watched, especially this one scene. Jack demands Kate and Sawyer's release or he will let Ben bleed out while Danny already has a gun to Sawyer's head. I could not sit still during this scene.

4. Charlie's goodbye to Claire and his goodbye to Desmond on the boat. "Greatest Hits" is probably one of the best episodes of the season, if not the whole series, and I was crying in both of these scenes. It was a bittersweet moment to see Charlie accept his death. I am looking forward to the scene in the next season when Desmond gives Claire the list that Charlie made.

5. The biggest moment of the season, the very last scene when we realize that these are not flashbacks, but flashes in the future and Jack's exclamation to Kate, "We have to go back!" This was HUGE!! Just remember your reaction to it, and that was probably mine as well.

Funniest Episode: "Tricia Tanaka is Dead" This episode was HILARIOUS with some great Hurley and Sawyer moments which are always classic!

I can actually add plenty more to this list, but these are the ones that touched me most. Bring on Seasons 4, 5, and 6!! WOOT!!

'The Golden Girls' were ahead of their time

As we mourn the passing of Rue McClanahan, and celebrate the rediscovery of Betty White, it's time again to remind everyone how fantastic and hilarious "The Golden Girls" was.

The show aired on NBC back when it still had good shows. And while on the surface a show about four older women living together in Miami doesn't sound like a laugh riot, it absolutely is.

McClanahan's passing leaves White as the last surviving "Golden Girl," so it's up to fans to keep the show's legacy alive.

It is one of those underrated shows that everyone knows is funny, but it doesn't get the hype of more controversial or outrageous programs. However, during its run the show dealt with a lot of controversial topics such as, menopause, safe sex, HIV and domestic violence.

The humor of the show came from the fact that because of the character's age they had different way of dealing with these issues.

There was also the chemistry between White, McClanahan, Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur. As some of the finest comedic actresses of our time, their work together was always flawless and often led to long pauses on the show as the studio audience cracked up.

So today in remembrance of McClanahan and everything great about "The Golden Girls" I suggest everyone sit down with a cheesecake and enjoy a marathon of this classic show.
